“Gosh I am so tired.” Eri said while rubbing her eyes. Eri had a late night shift at a local gift shop on main street. Eri’s eyes were drooping as she yawned. When someone walked in the store catching her off guard. She jumped a little and turned over to look at the door to see no one there. “Weird..” she said. “I could have sworn I heard the door open, but no ones there.” She turned back around. “Maybe it’s because I am very tired.” She said and then sighed. “Ugh I swear I am never doing overtime again.” She said with an annoyed tone. “The store is empty, and I’m pretty sure it's going to stay like this for the rest of the night.” Eri said. She preceded to pull out her phone and look on her socials. “Excuse me” said a tall man in a coat. Eris eyes widened and looked up at him. ‘Oh ha, I didn’t know anyone was in here!” Eri said a bit startled. “How may I help you, sir?” Eri said trying to make eye contact with the man. “I was wondering if you could help me pick out a gift for my wife. Its our anniversary in two days and I still don’t know what to get her.” The man said. “Oh, well does your wife have any particular interests?” Eri said a bit confused. The man looked turned his head both ways checking if it's safe. He then leaned closer and whispered in Eri's ear "She likes to read books and cook. She doesn't like anything else." Eri stepped back a bit "T-then may I suggest that you get her a cooking book." The man thought for a moment "Do you have any recommendations for me?" Eri walked away from the counter "Yes, in fact we have many. please sir right this way". Eri lead him to the cooking section of the shop. "We might not have many cooking books but we have the best." The tall man looked around and picked out a random book. "Is this one any good?" Eri took a look at the book. "Oh yes that one would be perfect. It came out just last week. They said they would have the best recipes for many different occasions." The man smirked at Eri, "You surely know a lot for just being a worker here." Eri gave the book back to the man "It's just that I like cooking and reading too. What a coincidence right?" Eri began to walk back towards the counter, but as she began to walk the man grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her into his arms. "S-sir what do you think you're doing." Eri struggled to get out. The man held on tighter, "Eri do you know how painful it is for me, seeing you here working everyday knowing you won't remember who I am. The doctors said that you might regain your memory soon, but you still haven't. It's been months and now our anniversary is coming up." Eri stopped struggling, "S-sir you k-know me." The man whispered in her ear, "Ren, call me Ren. I miss hearing you say my name. You have always been there for me when it counted. It was my fault that you lost your memory to begin with and now I can't even restore your memory, but don't worry Eri I'll find a way to bring them back, I promise." After that Ren let go and looked into Eri's eyes. Eri could tell that this man was telling the truth. Everything fitted with her life in the past few months. She was living with her friend and she does remember being in an accident, but sadly she doesn't have a clue who this guy is. Eri looked away, "Sir you should know that I do believe you, I really do...but the thing is that you are still a stranger to me that came up to me and hugged me without a warning." Ren sighed and lowered his head, "I guess I'm just a stranger to you, you won't even call me by my name." Eri looked at Ren, "You said that you will help me regain my memory, right? So from now on let's just get to know each other, um, again." Ren looked up, "So it's like a date, thank you so much Eri. I honestly thought you would never believe me." Eri smiled, "Yes, then let's meet up every afternoon near the park." Ren's face smiled with delight, "I never thought this day would go so well. I'm so happy." Ren cupped her cheeks and began to lean in for a kiss. Eri back away instinctively. Ren realized that he was still a stranger to her. "Oh, ha sorry Eri I forgot I am still a stranger to you." Eri shook her head, "No I'm sorry, you are now my boyfriend and I should consider your feelings too." Eri walked closer to Ren and kissed him on the cheek. "That will be it for now." Eri smiled then walked back to the counter.
