About 12.5 million slaves were transported from Africa during the time of the Atlantic Slave Trade, from around 1526 to 1867, and 10.7 million arrived in the Americas. Of all long-distance world migrations, the Atlantic Slave Trade was perhaps the most expensive trade in human civilization.
