1 answer:
love history [14]2 years ago

Answer:

It's important to know what you want. In saying this I know exactly what I want in the future. My dream home would be in the woods, near a town, and it would be cozy.

My dream home would be in the woods. Peace and quiet is something that must people would want and I fall into that category. I would love a place where I can hear birds chirping every morning and not see houses everywhere. clearly, is love a home in the woods.

My home would be near a town. I don't necessarily want to be in town. but, I think it'd be nice to be close enough that I could get things when I need them. I would want to be near a town so that I can talk to people and get a job. obviously, it would be nice to be close to town.

vladimir1956 [14]

The answer is C. She wants to preserve her family’s Mexican culture even though she no longer lives in Mexico.

Explanation:

In the excerpt presented, the narrator describes the ideas his grandmother has about the job he should have and the type of woman he should marry. In this, it is revealed the grandmother wants his grandson to become a barber, and also she opposes he marries an "Okie" or a woman that is not Mexican, this shows the grandmother resist part of the new culture and she aims at preserving her family's Mexican culture which explains she does not want influences from other cultures. This also means she does not necessarily hate American culture but she just opposes someone that is not Mexican becomes part of the family including Italians, Asians, French, etc. and not only Americans. Therefore, it can be inferred the grandmother "wants to preserve her family’s Mexican culture even though she no longer lives in Mexico".

"Today was my first time behind the wheel. My father was my instructor for the day, and he picked me up. We were reviewing road
Semmy [17]

This question is incomplete, but I was able to find it online. We are supposed to analyze the following three sentences and decide whether each sentence is written in a parallel structure. If not, we must correct the sentence.

1. We were reviewing road signs and practiced turn signals before we started.

2. I turned on the engine while instructions were muttered by my father.

3. I stepped on the gas, checked my mirror, and crept through the parking lot.

Answer:

1. Change "were reviewing" to "reviewed".

2. Change to "my father muttered instructions".

3. Correct as is.

Explanation:

For a structure to present parallelism, it has to repeat a certain grammatical form inside the sentence. Parallel structures are used to create consistency in a series of words and phrases and make thoughts and ideas easier to understand.

In number 1, we have two different verb tenses expressing actions performed by the same subject in just one sentence. While "were reviewing" is in the Past Continuous, "practiced" is in the Simple Past. The sentence lacks parallelism, but that can be solved if we change "were reviewing" to "reviewed", so that both structures will be in the Simple Past.

In number 2, the same sentence presents a structure in the active voice - I turned on the engine - and another int he passive voice - instructions were muttered by my father. We can make the structures parallel by simply changing the last part to "my father father muttered instructions," so that it can be in the active voice.

Number 3 is correct as is. All the verbs are in the Simple Past, and the structures separated by commas present an action and another piece of information that goes with that action.
