What role did the government play in the homestead strike of 1892?
Salsk061 [2.6K]

ANSWER: The government gave support to the Carnegie Steel Company to put a halt to the strike.

The Homestead strike (Homestead, Pennsylvania) was a result of the discontent of the American's strongest union at the time "Amalgamated Association of Iron and Steel Worker" toward the Carnegie Steel Company for breaching the contract signed in 1889, putting new productions demands and firing the workers of the plant.

On July 6, 1892, ten thousand people supporters of the union did a strike, in which the Company sent three hundred Pinkerton guards. The strike couldn't be repressed, it resulted in many ending up injured and the death of nine strikers and seven guards.

Henry Clay Frick, the manager of the Company, having no other option, appealed to Governor William Stone. Stone supported the company by sending eight thousand militia, which arrived on July 12.

A) Which statement is true about the Harlem Renaissance? (1 point
MaRussiya [10]

Answer:

The Great Migration brought many African Americans to the Harlem Renaissance.

Explanation:

The first option would not make sense because there are lasting effects of the Harlem Renaissance such as increased civil rights for African-Americans.

The second option would not make sense because the Harlem Renaissance produced much music that we even listen to today.

The third option would not make sense because the Harlem Renaissance was a rebirth of the arts, not science.
The fourth option makes sense because the Great Migration pushed many African-Americans from the south to the north, to cities such as Harlem, where they could find new opportunities as African-Americans.

Lawmakers want to keep a positive public opinion of themselves because
Murljashka [212]

B is the correct answer.

Legislators are elected by the people and if they are not well thought of by the people, it is unlikely that they will be reelected.

This ensures that legislators respond to the needs of the people but also proves problematic when the people are manipulated into a mob like frenzy.
