Robert e. Lee was a southern general who fought alongside the Confederates in the session war. Although he was loyal to the southern states and a great defender of the slave culture that existed there, Lee wrote a letter to his son revealing great concerns about the reasons that started the war and how the dissolution of the union, or the defeat of the confederation, would be bad for people's lives. Although he believed that the dissolution of the union was not the solution to the problems of the southern states, he despised a government that encouraged war as a way to solve its problems, instead of kindness and brotherhood.
