Why would a true Socialist economy not work in the United States?
Firdavs [7]
A socialist economy wouldn't work because America was built off of capitalism and like it or not, business feeds a majority of America's economy. Without our strong ties in international business, we would lose monetary relationships throughout the world and our economy would sink.

ohaa [14]

Answer:

Dissolution of the Soviet Union/Allowing more freedoms to people

Explanation:

Most of the fears United States had was the spread of communism.

eventually this lead to the end of the USSR.

Explain how the fugitive slave act violated the core principles of american democracy
larisa [96]

The origins of these acts go back to the constitution where the article 4 has a clause called the fugitive slave clause which orders states to deliver up fugitives from labor (euphemism for runaway slaves) when they are requested by slaveholders.

This clause was translated into the first 1793 statute which was basically a civil statute that was not well enforced according to the southern states, thus leading to the creation of the 1850 fugitive slave act.

The 1850 act was tougher than the previous one, punishing not only runaway slaves, but also people who harbored or aided slaves in any way, with civil and criminal penalties including up to 6 months imprisonment if caught and prosecuted successfully.

There were many documented cases of people being tortured and imprisoned in south because of helping fugitives.

These acts directly violated the democracy in several ways for example:

 • Slavery had been abolished in many states of the US by the time these acts were created
 • They were considered by many as some species of legalized kidnapping
 • They encouraged illegal abduction or arrest and sale into slavery of free black men and women denying them the fair right to trial

One clear example would be the movie "Twelve years a slave" which depicts the documented case of Solomon Northup, a free black man who was sold as a slave without proof of him being one.

Which was one of the causes that led to the Great Sioux War in 1876?
Semmy [17]

The correct answer is D. Gold was discovered in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The federal government forgot the Treaty of Laramie of 1868, and on December 3, 1875, ordered the Sioux to evacuate the territory and decreed a peremptory period (January 31, 1876), after which those who refused to return to the reserves would be considered "hostile" with all the consequences that this term implied. The federal government decided to organize a military expedition to expel the now "hostiles" from the territory that had formally been recognized only eight years ago. In February 1876, preparations began. A long and extensive campaign was foreseen, given the difficulties of the climate and the immensity of the territory that had to be covered. In a first expedition, the general George Crook left the first of March of 1876 towards the valleys of the Yellowstone and the Powder River, with the specific mission to destroy the village of the chief Sioux Caballo Loco, after the Sioux Tribe declared war on the intruders and on the United States, as a consequence of the permanent invasions of the sacred territory of the Black Hills because of the discovery of the existence of gold in 1871.

Which act was passed in the late 1800s to exclude an entire ethnic group
Artist 52 [7]
It was the "Chinese Exclusion Act" of 1882 that excluded an entire ethnic group from immigrating to the United States, partly because of economic fears but also because of blatant racism.
