Jackson appealed to the common citizen because he was able to speak to the concerns of ordinary people; portrays himself as a common person. Expanded suffrage helped Jackson win the election of 1828 because more people were able to vote now, of multiple different groups, helping Andrew Jackson by giving him more votes.
