The correct answer is A) buy the territory from the American Indians.

In the 1870s, gold was discovered in the Blacks Hills. The federal government first tried to buy the territory from the American Indians.

It was the year 1874 when the General Custer expedition found gold in the Black Hills territory in Dakota. In that time, this territory belonged to the Sioux Indians, a Native American tribe. The Gold Rush of Black Hills, Dakota was at its peak between 1876 and 1877, and the government tried at first to buy the land. But the Sioux believed that the land belonged to them because it was inherited by their ancestors.

3 reasons why Louis Riel is a HERO?
rjkz [21]
1) Louis Riel assembled a revolution of people by himself. Basically by himself, he was able to become the leader of the Metis's government. He captured many fortifications, and got much of the land back. Riel also demanded many things for his people to be safe.

2) Louis Riel supported and wanted to help his people all he could. You could say that he died to protect them. He spent most of his life fighting for their rights. Forming the National Committee of the Metis (protecting their land), and forming the Metis Bill of Rights (protecting themselves).

3) Once the Government of Canada delayed the approval of the Bill of Rights, this is when Riel formed a provisional government. The Government of Canada say this as a revolution, so many people tried to attack Riel. Him and his people rebelled again the government just to get approval of their rights.
