"kill the Indian, Save the Man" in this quote, Pratt was encouraging Native Americans to be assimilated into American society. B
alex41 [277]
The process of assimilation generally had a negative impact on Native American communities, and oftentimes assimilation was not successful and was strongly resisted by the tribes. It began to break down the cohesive culture of various Native American tribes, taking children away from their families and sending them to boarding schools. At these schools, sometimes assimilation was moderately successful, but at the cost of depriving these children of their heritage and created a disconnect between them and their families.
Another aspect of assimilation that had a negative impact was the US attempt to incorporate Native Americans and their land into the greater country by offering citizenship and land allotments, forcing a political and social model on them that was inconsistent with their long-established traditions and culture.

Why do you think the same people who didnt want to pay taxes to the british during the Revolution were so angry when citizens in
faust18 [17]

Answer:

Because these people did not necessarily see taxes as a wrong thing in itself.

Explanation:

What the American revolutionary leaders did not agree with was paying taxes to the British, because of the lack of American representation in the British parliament (no taxation without representation was their slogan).

When the United States was born, and styled as a republic, and a democratic republic, these American leaders did not see anything wrong with people paying taxes to the new American government. This was not a tyrannical, undemocratic foreign government, but the very government that guaranteed American citizens many civil and political rights.

It was only to be expected that American citizens should contribute to the functioning of the new nation.

How did plessy ferguson decision support the existence of jim crow laws
Cerrena [4.2K]
Segregation was okay as long as everything was " seperate  but equal".
Though, Plessy and Jim Crow did give the NAACP and other black groups something specific to fight against later for equality (Brown vs. the Board of Ed.)
