There was several personal qualities that helped Nicholas Gage succeed in life and his career. One of the qualities was his eagerness to learn. He was encouraged by his teacher, Miss Hurd at Chandler Junior High. Nicholas spent many hours at a local theater watching dramas, he also enjoyed boxing with his neighborhood friends. He worked at a local newspaper, went to church every week, and he and his father both helped hundreds of people immigrate to the United States. He was only nine when his mother was executed and he and his sister came to live with his father in the U.S that he had no recollection of.
