Hello. You did not inform the poems you are referring to, however, we can see that these two authors express cultural identity in poetry, exploring the concept of ancestry.

Levins Morales, in her poem "Child of the Americas," addresses the cultural identity, reinforcing the idea that, as an American, her ancestry is competently diverse and encompasses several different cultures, which although they are with her, do not make her be what she is, because she represents all of them together, forming something new, pluralized and comprehensive.

Ortiz Cofer, on the other hand, presents the concept of commitment to ancestry and connection to the native culture in her poem "El Olvido," showing that, no matter where you are, ancestry will speak louder and re-indicate your presence in your culture original.
