Thomas Jefferson both died on July 4, 1826. Adams passed away on Independence
Day, his last words being “Thomas Jefferson survives”. But unbeknownst to him,
Jefferson actually died just five hours earlier in his home at Monticello.
According to the Warren Commission, the group responsible for investigating the assassination, he acted alone.
However, conspiracy theories still abound and a sizeable percent of the population does not believe he acted alone. Most of the Warren report has been released and in 2017 missing information that was withheld for national security reasons is to be released.
