Answer:

1. A

2. C

3. C

4. B

Explanation:

1. A

"They do not trust the images from space as they believe those images and the media as well as the fovernment are conspiring to control our minds."

The majority of this article explains flat-earthers do not trust the government nor the media. They do not believe in the proof the government feeds them. They believe "globe-heads are under the spell of a conspiracy theory." A fits the description of flat-earthers best.

2. C

Acknowledging conflicting ideas means to explain how these ideas came to life and the rational reasoning behind it. The author briefly mentions trauma relating to the conflicting belief, but this is not acknowledging their ideas. The entire article talks about him trying to talk reason with flat-earthers, but they simply do not trust his sources. The author also provides how flat-earthers justify their own beliefs.

"Since . . . anyone can post anything, information can be found to prove or disprove almost any theory."

3. C

As previously stated, the author tries providing the people with facts, but they disregard those because it is "cited information from official sources." Official sources are controlled by the government, a body flat-earthers don't trust.

4. B

All three quotes were used in the text, but only one of them supports the author's argument. By citing information from "official sources," the author is providing reliable evidence for his argument. The other two quotes support flat-earthers as it's validating their beliefs instead.

Serjik [45]

Answer and Explanation:

"Two Kinds" is a short story by author Amy Tan in which the relationship between an American daughter and her Chinese mother is explored. The main character and narrator is the daughter, Jing-mei. Her mother wants her to be a child prodigy, no matter in what field. She pushes Jing-mei to try different things: acting, dancing, singing, mathematics. They finally settle with playing the piano. However, Jing-mei loses interest and decides to be only average. Her piano teacher, Old Chong, is a deaf man who does not pay close attention to see if Jing-mei is actually learning.

How does Old Chong react to Jing-mei's performance at the talent show?

<em>The room was quiet, except for Old Chong,  who was beaming and shouting "Bravo! Bravo! Well done!</em>

Because Old Chong is deaf, he is the only one applauding Jing-mei at the talent show. She performs dreadfully, making it clear that she is not a prodigy. As a matter of fact, it is now clear to everyone, especially her mother, that she is not even trying to learn.

What are the two kinds of daughters?

After the disastrous recital, Jing-mei and her mother begin to argue. According to her mother, there are two types of daughters:

<em>"Only two kinds of daughters," she shouted in Chinese. "Those who are obedient and those who follow  their own mind! Only one kind of daughter can live in this house. Obedient daughter!"</em>

<em />

What does Suyuan give Jing-mei?

When Jing-mei turns thirty, her mother gives her the old piano. Jing-mei sees this a sign of forgiveness. She has remained average throughout her life, as if to prove a point. She did not wish to live up to her mother's expectations.
