An example of foreshadowing can be seen in chapter 2 of "Lord of the flies" at the moment when the boys build a fire which they completely lose control and begin to set the forest on fire. This fire foreshadows the boys' future, which will be completely violent, uncontrolled and dangerous within that forest.
