What is the slope of the line x=-6!? <br> What about y=6<br> Please explain :)
Tema [17]
So,

These are actually special cases.
x = -6

No matter what value we substitute for y, x will always be -6.
These are some solutions to it:
(-6, 0)
(-6, -2)
(-6, 50)

Now, we know that:
slope(m) =  \frac{rise}{run}

But the run is zero, because the line is vertical.  And dividing by zero is not allowed.  Therefore, the slope of the line x = -6 is undefined.

y = 6

This is basically the same type as the previous one, with one exception.

Some solutions:
(0, 6)
(-47, 6)
(59, 6)

No matter what value we substitute for x, y will always be 6.

Remembering what the slope is equal to, we quickly see that since the rise is zero, and the denominator is infinite, we can conclude that the slope is zero.

Quadrilateral KLMN has vertices of K(-4,-1), L(-1,-1) M(-2,-5) and N(-4,-4) Find the length of MN
Olenka [21]

Answer:

The length of MN is \sqrt{5} units.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given Quadrilateral KLMN has vertices at K(-4,-1), L(-1,-1) M(-2,-5) and N(-4,-4).

We use the distance formula to find the length of MN.

|MN|=\sqrt{(x_2-x_1)^2+(y_2-y_1)^2}

We plug in the values to get

|MN|=\sqrt{(-4--2)^2+(-4--5)^2}

|MN|=\sqrt{(-2)^2+(1)^2}

|MN|=\sqrt{4+1}

|MN|=\sqrt{5}

The length of MN is \sqrt{5} units.

Jillana begins to solve a linear equation that results in a variable expression set equal to the same variable expression. Which
DanielleElmas [232]

Answer: that the variable can be any number.

Step-by-step explanation:

So we have a linear equation and we end with a relation of the way:

x = x

an example can be if we have:

2*x + 4 = 2*(x + 2)

if you solve that, you will end with a relationship x = x

this means that any value of x will made that equality true.

so x can be any number.
