Answer:

Athens

Explanation:

The Greek city-state that alienated other city-states by taking money for the common defense and spending it on themselves is ATHENS

Following the formation of a Delian League involving about 330 members forming an association of Greek City-States in 478 BC, whose main objective is to continue to fight the Persian Empire.

However, instead of using the money judiciously, Athens alienated other city-states by taking money for the common defense and spending it on themselves. This eventually led to the Peloponnesian War in 431 BC and ultimately the league was dissolved in 404 BC, following the end of the Peloponnesian War.

Amanda [17]
The purpose of the Declaration of Independence is to explain to foreign nations and King George III why the colonies had chosen to separate themselves from Great Britain and become independent.

The introductory sentence states the Declaration's main purpose, to explain the colonists' right to revolution. In other words, “to declare the causes which impel them to the separation.” Congress had to prove the legitimacy of its cause. It had just defied the most powerful nation on Earth.
