They were scared that the Japanese in America would attack internally so they were extremely racist towards Japanese Americans. The Americans even put Japanese into internment camps during and after the war, costing many Japanese their jobs and lives.
After the Civil War and reconstruction the New South became more diversified. It was mainly agricultural before but the new embraced the industrial part as well.
