An outline for an argumentative essay about capitalism and socialism
vodomira [7]

Answer: Let's start with a definitive description of each.

Capitalism: is a free market economy, where goods and services are produced by private firms. The goods produced are determined by market forces of Demand and Supply.

Socialism: is an economy where each member of the public owns an equal fraction of the means by which goods and services are produced. The goods produced here are determined by the government.

Explanation: I am going to list some of the Advantages and Disadvantages of each so that you can pick the advantages of the system you are supporting and the disadvantages of the other system in your essay.

Capitalism

Advantages:

 • It ensures that only the goods needed are produced as the market is controlled by demand and supply.
 • It encourages innovation and personal development as better skills and products lead to higher income.

Disadvantages

 • It can neglect to produce necessary goods in the economy when focus is only on goods that give the highest return.
 • It leads to inequality between the people in an economy.

Socialism

Advantages:

 • It leads to equality, people enjoy equal standards of living
 • It corrects market problems such as monopolies, price fixing and cartels.

Disadvantages:

 • There is an absence of innovation due to lack of competition, so there is no drive to improve on the current goods, services or methods of production.
 • It leads to bureaucratic bottleneck as decisions usually have to be taken by several government officials in a bid to ensure that rules are followed.

In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln designated the last Thursday in November as a national day of Thanksgiving, _____ in 1939, Pr
Leto [7]

Finally, in 1939, President Franklin Roosevelt decreed that the holiday should always be celebrated on the fourth Thursday of the month.

Explanation:

In the year 1939, President Franklin D. Roosevelt has moved the Thanksgiving holiday by one week before than regular schedule, thinking that by rescheduling the holiday it would help increase the retail sales during one of the final years of the Great Depression.

He felt that last Thursday in November fell on the last day of the month which would make no time for Christmas shopping season and it might diminish the economic revival.

So, President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued a Presidential Proclamation moving Thanksgiving to the second to last Thursday of November which has led to much confusion and disapproval, causing some to ridicule the holiday as Franksgiving.

Dafna11 [192]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Although there are no options attached, we can say the following.

I am going to compare the Haitian revolutionary leader Toussaint Louverture with the Father of the Mexican Independence, priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla.

Toussaint Louverture (1743-1803) was the most important leader of the Haitian independence movent who had the courage to fight against the powerful French Army. Indeed, due to his courage and dedication to the Haitian people's cause, he is known as the Father of Haiti.

He was a native of the island, at that time, known as Saint-Domininqgue, under the rule of France. He was a slave, could get his freedom, and became a jacobine that supported the revolutionary ideas of freedom and equality. And that is what he wanted for his beloved island.

On the other hand, we have the case of the Mexican priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla (1753-1811). He was a "criollo," half Spanish, half Mexican. As the member of the clergy he was, he was against the many injustices suffered by the native Indians and did not like the way the Spanish crown oppressed the Indians. He gathered the support of many people like Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez, José María Morelos y Pavón, and more, to declare the beginning of the Mexican revolutionary movement on September 15, 1810.
