Hedeby was attacked by King Harald of Norway in 1050, as part of his conflict with the King of Denmark. After the remains were also sacked and burned down by Slavs in 1066, Hedeby was abandoned. The people from Hedeby consequently moved and founded Schleswig.

The women in rural cities were largely excluded from this progress because they didn't have access to electricity.
