What did France gain by helping the Americans win the Revolutionary War?
lisabon 2012 [21]

Answer:

The French got Senegal in Africa which helped it to gain monopoly over slave trade from Africa.

So, option D is the right answer.

Explanation:

The France had lost all its territories in North America, in the Seven Years wars (1756 - 1763) because of the British. So, it wanted to take revenge and weaken the British. France started helping the American Revolutionary war in 1775.

In 1776, Benjamin Franklin visited France seeking its support. In 1778, a treaty was signed between U.S and France by which France supplied money and arms to the United States. France help was so crucial for U.S because it lacked arms and allies and ultimately, it helped the U.S to gain independence from British. But France accumulated debt because of the costs incurred during its participation in the war.

During the war, France conquered several areas in the Caribbean islands but returned them all except the Tobago, which was a fertile area. After the war, France got Senegal in Africa, which was an important slave trading station, and hence France got a monopoly on the slave trade from Africa. Hence, option D is the correct answer.

How was life similar and/or different for American women before, during, and after the war? Did the war change the role of women
SCORPION-xisa [38]

Life was very difficult for American women in general before and even after the second world war, and the war greatly had an effect on many things. The life of American women was one of the things it change. As the end of the second world war came, life for America women changed for the better, as women became more important and more than just household workers. Women became more important and were more greatly respected and allowed more opportunities thanks to the second world war. In other other words, the life of American women differed before, during, and after the war in the sense that it got better for them and they were treated with new levels of respect as time passed on.

In the beginning before the war, most women were expected to be 'housewives' or to do jobs that were "woman" like jobs that didn't have to do with physically hard work. This included working as an domestic servant. However, by the 1940s, women were being called by the Armed Forces to aid them. The difference between the beginning and during the war for American women is that once the second world war came, women had more importat job opportunities that allowed them to be seen as more "strong" and "manly".

The difference between life for American during the war after the war is that it got better for American women. As during the war, women came to play a large role in the military and gender roles changed, after the war. The women who served during the war led to impact the women afterwards to expect more from their lives, and to make a better name for themselves. Although it didn't happen quickly, their participation in the war eventually won the recognition of many people and men began to more greatly respect women and bring equality to both sexes. In others words, the years after second world war was not only harder for women as they worked to gain more respect, but was more better, as they found themselves received greater amounts of recognition, respect, and equality as time passed.

Viking Motivations
Scandinavia was very cold and made agriculture difficult. It was also becoming very overcrowded. Monks on the English island of Lindisfarne are surprised by violent raiders from the sea. This is the first record of Viking raids. Viking migrated from Scandinavia in the Summer to look for resources.
Polynesian Motivation
Scientists estimate that the sweet potato was introduced to Polynesia by 700 CE which supports theories that they had traded with South America. Polynesians wanted to explore and trade to get resources that they didn't have on their islands.
Viking Techniques
Vikings had really long, strong ships made of oak that contained one mast and a square sail. They were often called "dragon" ships because they often had carved dragons protruding from the ends. In 836, a fleet of possibly 35 Viking ships invade Devon which is in England.
Polynesian techniques
The Polynesians used deep-sea voyaging canoes and oral sailing traditions such as songs about stars for navigation. A Polynesian canoe was found that had been buried in mud when a tsunami hit the island of Huahine near Tahiti somewhere between 850 and 1100.
Polynesian Extent of Exploration
By 1,000 CE, the Polynesians had already reached South America and returned. The Polynesians reached places as far as modern California, as evidenced by fish hooks.
Viking Extent of Migration
In 1,001 it is believed that Leif Erikkson reached the American coast. The Vikings are said to have reached North America about 500 years before anyone else.
Reasons for end of Polynesian Migration
The Polynesians stopped going and coming back, instead, they started settling in places like Hawaii, which was settled 1000 and 1300. The Polynesians' last stop in the Pacific was in the Cahtham Islands in 1300

Reason for Vikings End of Migration
The Vikings slowly became integrated with European cultures and Scandinavian countries were converted to Christianity. Many European coastal cities became more fortified and were better equipped to protect themselves aganist Viking raids. A common marker for the end of the "Viking Era" is 1006, which is the year of the last major Viking incursion into Europe. It was the Battle of Stamford Bridge where the Norwegian King Haraldr attempted to reclaim a portion of England and lost.
