The correct answer to this open question is the following.

The Great Depression highlighted the lack of civil rights in the 1930s in that "minorities were hired less frequently and fired more frequently than white people."

The Great Depression in the United States started on October 29, 1929, after the US stock market crashed. Millions of people lost their jobs, banks went into bankruptcy, and companies had to close. People lived harsh times. Minorities suffered the most because African Americans, Asians, and Latinos had fewer work opportunities than whites.

Many African Americans where still living in poverty, and when the Great Depression hit, many white employers fired around 50% of African American workers. At this time, the KKK was very active too.
Another thing was that certain workers were still living in harsh conditions, so civil rights emerged in acts like strikes.

Kansas nebraska act how each side cheated
Leokris [45]
Nebraska was too far north for plantations--people of Nebraska wanted territory without slavery. Kansas was further south and platations could be built there. As soon as the Kansas-Nebraska Act was passed, thousands of people rushed to claim land in Kansas. This would tip the vote on slavery.
