It is important to <em>remember,</em> from a historical context, <u>people who lived when an event took place are referred to as the</u><u> primary source</u><u> of information.</u> While <em>secondary sources</em> do not witness the event, but only interpret what happened based on what is mentioned by the primary sources.
For example, if a group of boys witnessed when the police chase and caught a thieve; <u>they are part of the primary source of that event.</u> However, if a journalist publishes a news article the following day after interviewing the group of boys; <u>the journalist article is a secondary source.</u>
