Margo read two epics. The first epic is the story of a soldier who got lost at sea and sailed for many years before finding his

way home. While he was gone, his family struggled financially. Knowing how much their father valued his ancestors’ homeland, his children refused bribes of food and money offered in exchange for the land. They preferred to live humbly and proudly. Upon his return, their father’s joy was boundless, which pleased his sons and daughters. The second epic is the story of a great leader and prince who was banished from his home by an evil cousin. While traveling and living a simple life in the forest, the prince met and married a princess. Despite their royal backgrounds, neither of them minded living safely hidden in the forest. This humility saved their lives on a number of occasions, and their great happiness did not depend on living in a castle. When comparing these two myths, what qualities do both myth-tellers seem to value? A. cleverness and wit B. home and property C. physical strength and agility D. humility and humbleness

The correct answer is D. Humility and humbleness

Explanation:

An epic is a type narrative that besides depicting the actions of a hero emphasizes certain qualities that the hero has as positive and remarkable. In the case of the two epics presented in both the actions and values of the characters show "humility and humbleness" this occurs in the first epic because the family of the soldier who is the hero of the story, decided to have a humble life and refuse any bribe showing humility and humbleness. Similarly, in the second epic, the prince is forced to leave his life as a prince in the castle and instead begins a humble life and even though he married a princess they both continue being humble and living a simple life which also shows humility and humbleness. Thus, it is humility and humbleness the qualities that are common in the two narratives.
