blagie [28]
In the world’s rainforest, nearly 1 hectare is destroyed per second. This adds up to nearly 31 million hectares per year; the size bigger than Poland. As a result, the environment is being damaged: 137 species of wildlife are becoming extinct per year. Humans are benefiting from this destruction by making a profit off logging and making cheap products.

valina [46]

I think it was when they started the point of telling stories of the witches and what they did with the people it just started to spook them out and they feared that maybe they were honestly true. And I think at that time it really wasn't the best time to stand out and/or say/do something out of their league because they would think you were a witch.

In line 85, it states “back he spurred like a madman, shouting a curse to the sky.” What caused the highwayman to be so angry?
kherson [118]

Answer:

The highwayman's anger was caused by the discovery of the death of Bess, the girl he loved.

Explanation:

The poem "The Highwayman" by Alfred Noyes tells the story of an unnamed highwayman falling in love with the daughter of an innkeeper. But the betrayal of Tim, the ostler, led Bess, the girl to sacrifice her life to save the highwayman from getting killed by the authorities.

The lines <em>"back he spurred like a madman, shouting a curse to the sky"</em> shows his anger at discovering that Bess had been killed while trying to save him. This was her way of making sure that he did not get captured and then tortured by the authorities, thereby showing her love for him. Thus, <u>the anger in him was a result of knowing Bess, his lover, had died at the hands of the authorities who were waiting for him.</u>
