Nowadays the country´s been facing degradation soil problems, because of this the country is trying to find a solution for this big problem. China to wean itself off fossil-fuel intensive farming and adopt more sustainable agricultural techniques, including organic production, and to make even better use of its two great strengths: a huge strategic grain reserve and a large rural population.

As the country’s economic reform program began to take hold and productivity in its agricultural sector increased, China managed to achieve this goal by the end of the last century. In fact, China surprised many observers when it became a net exporter of agricultural products in 2002, its first year as a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
