This occurred in <em>1951. </em>The lawsuit was made by Oliver Brown against the <em>Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas</em> because his daughter, Linda, was not allowed to enter the school because she was a black girl. The lawyer who defended Oliver Brown was the<em> head of the NAACP</em> Legal Defense and Educational Fund.
