I walked into my first class hesitantly." However as the poem goes on, you can see the narrator gets more comfortable. Then, once the author stated, "Then: and unexpected wave. A warm smile. An introduction. "Welcome to Crossville!" You can tell that the whole mood of the poem changed. And the narrator became more optimisitc and hopeful for the new school year. As a result, it shows that the narrator changed from being nervous to being relieved and optimistic.
