Well i guess in a sense as if lets say you're a american students who just moved to France or Canada where the population of french speaking people your knowing of the language of the french language will help you greatly and you will end up have a much greater chance of getting a job an education and just generally making friends and in that sense you life will improve and will help you even later in life if you chose to stay there.
