Jocks vs. nerds, brawn vs. brain, hunks vs. dweebs; America has a conflicted relationship with the smart, studious, or anyone wh

o has not taken the hunter-gatherer macho path. As David Anderegg notes in Nerds: Who They Are and Why We Need More of Them, there’s a divide in our culture between “Men of Action” and “Men of Reflection.” Superman embodies the polar extremes. Clark Kent represents the private, introverted, nerdy side, but it’s the public, muscle-bound he-man from Krypton that our culture celebrates. Our society purportedly encourages high achievement in math and science. But it also crucifies brains for being smart. Yes, we do want our kids to do well in school – just as long as the passions they relish, the knowledge they acquire, and the pursuits they master have relevance to the real world. In other words, being an astrophysicist better make them a bunch of money. Too smart, you’re declared a freak, thus ostracized, and picked last for the kickball team at recess. It’s a mixed message.
This passage emphasizes what about America’s treatment of “smart” people?

A) Being “smart” is important, as long as a person is not too “smart.”

B) They are seen as useful and necessary contributors to society.

C) America treats them like outcasts.

D) Most people would prefer athletic individuals.

AVprozaik [17]

The characters will fit the descriptions of the protagonist and antagonist if:

 • The protagonist is the main character in the story who suffered the most obstacles. The King will be the antagonist if he inflicted pain on the servant who was the protagonist.

Who are the protagonist and antagonist?

A protagonist is the main actor in a play who suffers unjust treatment by some evil people. The story revolves around this protagonist and the steps he takes to overcome the trials that he or she faces. The antagonist, on the other hand, is the one who causes the protagonist anguish.

In the story of the Faithful servant and the King, we can see that the King subjected the servant to unjust treatment by letting him do difficult jobs in order to win the affection of the princess.

In the end, all of his schemes do not work out as he is impelled to know that he should cultivate the habit of working hard.

Darya [45]
The answer should be D. The first two answer choices, A and B, are completely opinion based. A claims that the vehicles are very ugly, which is an opinion, and B says that it is all a conspiracy. We can rule out those tow answer choices pretty easily. For C, the fact is false. Not many people get electrocuted while driving the cars. This means D is the only logical answer. It gives a good, factual reason why schools shouldn't switch to electric vehicles. I hope this helps!
