How does this election portray Grendel's personality and motives? Consider his feelings, shock upon encountering Beowulf, his co
valentinak56 [21]

This question is about "Grendel" by John Gardner.

Answer and Explanation:

Grendel feels very lonely and anguished because he cannot maintain social relationships with any living being, as he is the only one of his kind. He fully wishes to find a company, someone with whom he can talk and share experiences, however, he only has contact with his mother and they are unable to communicate. Grendel, manages to understand human beings and to be touched by his creations, but humans are afraid of him and attack him causing him to retaliate violently.

This increases the suffering and loneliness of Grendel, who was cursed in addition to not being hurt and being immortal, which makes him sad to have to live like this forever. However, when he fights with Beowulf he is surprised to be hit to the death and is happy and grateful that all his loneliness will end now that he can finally die.

The masque of the red death is an allegorical story filled with symbolism. what do the seven rooms in the palace symbolize?
lara [203]
There's m,any theories as to what the seven rooms symbolize but here are two popular ones. The rooms symbolize the seven stages of life from birth to death or that the rooms symbolize the seven levels of Hell. Take your pick, you can probably argue better for the first one, though. Each color has significance to the stage of life it represents, I can't remember all the different colors, but you get the idea.

Who was the narrator of A. E. Housman's famous collection of poems A Shropshire Lad?
PSYCHO15rus [73]

Answer:

The narrator of the  "A Shropshire Lad" is an unhappy and pessimistic young soldier.

Explanation:

Alfred Edward Housman's collection of poem "A Shropshire Lad" was narrated by a young but pessimistic soldier who had lost a lot of people. This is a collection of sixty- three poems that shows sacrifice of the Shropshire lads who had died while serving the Queen.

And added to their deaths, he is surrounded by the themes of death even in the poetry he reads. He talks of the sacrifice of these men, "<em>the land they perished for</em>" implying the patriotic zeal in the soldiers. It's as if the feeling and concept of death or dying is meant to be with him as long as he lives.

LenaWriter [7]
The answer to this question is the letter "C" which is "He believes his life to be extremely simple and he believes that other's lives to be needlessly complicated". This is how Walden sees himself and compare himself to the lives of other people and he was able to see the differences. This was highlighted in the story entitled Where I lived and What I live for.
