To me it sounds like both 1 and 3. As I don't think it could be 2 as running is mentioned no where, and not 4 because no where in the sentence is the future mentioned.

The first one is   's . And the second one is just ' . Because ''our cousins'' definitely plural. So, we do not use ''s'' after the plurals for kind of these words.
