3 B Read the following sentence from Nixon's speech and answer the following question. "But, good as this record is, may I empha

size it isn't enough. A record is never something to stand on. It's something to build on. And in building on this record, I believe that we have the secret for progress, we know the way to progress." How is Nixon using logos to convince his audience? 0 Nixon is actually using pathos because the American audience sympathizes with him and his struggles. He has made things work- so he should be the one to fix it. Nixon is explaining that everything is on the government. The government knows how to solve problems, and Americans should not be involved. Nixon is using logos by explaining that while they have made excellent changes, they still need to move forward. But because they have been successful, they know how to continue to do so. o All of the above.

Identify the method used to correct the ambiguous pronoun reference. If the revised sentence does not improve the pronoun refere
umka21 [38]
The original sentence used the pronoun in a wrong way - the way that sentence is written, it would seem that the table needed washing, and not the dishes. The revised sentence fixes this mistake by placing the pronoun nearer the antecedent.
An antecedent is a word or a phrase which is located in front of the pronoun (ante means before) and which that pronoun refers to. The pronoun here is 'that,' and its antecedent is 'the dishes.' So by moving the pronoun 'that' nearer the antecedent 'the dishes' we fixed the ambiguous sentence.
