The settler woman is kind and caring for she was pleased to have others in her company, allowed Colt and the others to first get a chance at the fireplace where they prepared a meal, and then she prepared a place for them to sleep in.

When the settler woman came in with no shoes on her feet and carrying a sack of corn over her shoulders, Colt wondered if that was what she had come to. However, the woman was kind for she;

1. was pleased to have them in her company

2. allowed Colt and the others with her to access the fireplace where they could make their evening meal.
