Answer:
Option d. The structures of both excerpts are similar as each relates an anecdote to appeal to the reader's emotions.
Explanation:
in the excerpt from "Take the Tortillas Out of Your Poetry" the writer tells an anecdote of a friend that decided to try to erase his own culture from his poetry work, in order to have better chances at receiving a fellowship. In the excerpt from "Speaking Arabic" the author tells the story of a stranger he overheard at a fair, that was expressing his emotions of alienation in the cultural environment he was in. Both excerpts use anecdotes, short stories about a real incident and person in order to appeal to the reader's emotions.

When I was finishing my last year of grade 8, I didn't believe I was gunna have many friends in HS, but, during the summer, I decided I was gunna have a mini lil glow up, and treat myself, and start going to church more, and and drop some fake friends, I bought new clothes to make me feel pretty and worth it, I started wearing makeup to make me feel pretty and worth it, I ate a lot though, which forced me to workout, do I started working out, and I hated running, but all through middle school and elementary I did cross country, I was a confusing child, but anyways, I cut my hair like 2 months ago, so change something about me. but I'ma true christian, with so many friends that love me, and a family who's there for me, and a brother who doesn't always get along with me aha, but I finally believed in myself, and I'm confident, and I think I'm pretty now, and I have many guy friends, many ex guy friends, and two exes, which doesn't matter, because their my friends, and I lvoe them because their always there for me no matter what. :]
