Since Mexico and Texas formed part of the same Spanish colonies, but had contact with the Americans, a unique spirit was formed in Texas, influenced by Mexicans (mostly of Spanish origin) and giving Texas a special identity; even if the people of Texas later decided to annex to the United States, much of Texas's form was a mixture of Latin and American, giving Texas its distinctive names of cities, many of its traditional foods, house styles, and music.

They were forced to move because Andrew Jackson ignored the Court and forced them to move to new lands West of the Mississippi River. They had to walk all the way to their new homes, which is known as the Trail of Tears.
