Davis hardware company uses a perpetual inventory system. how should davis record the sale of merchandise, costing $770, and sol
slega [8]

The required entries are as follows:

Dr. Cost of goods sold  $770

Cr. Inventory                            $770

Dr. Accounts receivable    $1,260

Cr. Sales revenue                            $1,260

What entries are required for sale of merchandise?

When merchandise is sold, the company's inventory reduces and cost of goods sold increases ,hence, the appropriate entries are to debit cost of goods sold in the income statement and credit the inventory account in the balance sheet.

Also, to account for sale on account, which means credit sales, the revenue account is credited with the sales value whereas the account receivables which represents claim from the customer is debited, this would happen for every transaction because the inventory system is perpetual.

Gladys Peel owns a 50% interest in the capital and profits of the partnership of Peel and Poe. On July 1, 2019, Peel bought land
melamori03 [73]

Answer:

$50,000

Explanation:

Data provided in the question:

Interest owned by Gladys Peel in the capital and profits of the partnership  = 50%

Fair market value = $10,000

Value of the land acquired = $16,000

Partnership's net income = $94,000

Loss recorded = $6,000

Now,

The loss must be separately passed through to partners as it is a Sec. 1231 loss.

Therefore,

Partnership ordinary income = $94,000 + $6,000

= $100,000

Hence,

Peel's distributive share of ordinary income from the partnership for 2019

= 50% of Partnership ordinary income

= 0.50 × $100,000

= $50,000

60 3 40

50 2 50

40 1 60

Answer:

Assuming that Alpha and Beta are the only two nations in the world, at the equilibrium world price:

Beta will export steel and Alpha will import steel.

Explanation:

a) Data and Calculations:

Domestic and World Market for Steel

Alpha                   Beta           World Market

Qs    P      Qd       Qs    P      Qd       Qs    P       Qd

60    5        10       80    5       20      140    5       30

40    4       20       70    4       30       110     4       50

30    3       30       60    3       40       90     3       70

25   2.50  35       55    2.50  45       80    2.50  80

20   2       40       50    2       50        70    2       90

10   1       50        40    1        60       50     1       110

b) In the world market, equilibrium will occur at a price of $2.50, when the quantity supplied and demanded will be 80.  At this equilibrium price of $2.50, Alpha will supply 25 units, and Beta will supply 55 units.  Alpha will demand 35 units, and Beta will demand 45 units.  This implies that Beta will supply more than its demand for steel, while Alpha will supply less.  Therefore, Beta will export steel and Alpha will import steel.

How does the concept of diminishing returns influence a producer's decision to supply a product?
Romashka-Z-Leto [24]
The law of diminishing returns states that if one input in the production of a product is increased while other inputs are fixed, a point will be reached where the addition of more of the input will result in a gradually smaller increase in output. Producers usually take into consideration the law of diminishing return; the law determines the quantity of product that a producer can manufacture and supply in order to make maximum profits.
