What did Mexico ban that helped to cause white settlers in Texas to revolt?
Evgesh-ka [11]

Answer:

Mexico banned further immigration from the United States to Texas, and this ban resulted in Texas revolution.

Explanation:

Before the Texas Revolution between October 1835 to April 1836, Texas formed part of Mexico. However, Texas and other white settler residents in Texas at that time were not comfortable with the centralist system of government being operated by the Mexican dictator, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna which was believed to be oppressive of the rights of the citizens. This led to heated political and cultural strains between the Mexican government and the increasing population of white settlers in Texas. The Mexican government sought to ban further immigration from the United States into Texas, but Texas and other white settlers resisted this move by starting a revolution against the Mexican government which led to the defeat of Mexican soldiers at the Battle of San Jacinto, and the resultant secession and independence of Texas from Mexico. The Republic of Texas was eventually annexed by the United States of America.
