History

In the first presidential ellection of 1788-89 voter turnout was very low, 1.8-6% of the population. This is believed to have been due the restrictions on the right to vote, wich was held primarily by white landowners, immigrants were discouraged to vote and women, slaves, indentured servants, non citizens and men youger than 21 were considered too ignorant to vote.

Furthermore, each state could impose restrictions on the right to vote, and in these early days many states imposed them on other faiths, for example only congregationalists had the right in Massachussets while Quakers, Jews and Catholics couldn't vote in Virginia and Rhode Island.

leva [86]

Answer:

Glasnost and Perestroika

Explanation:

Glasnost was the policy implemented by Gorbachev that was focused less on government control of media. This allowed for more freedom of the press within the Soviet Union.

Perestroika was focused on restructuring the Soviet Union's economy and political system. This was focused on less government control and allowed for more individual choice. These steps resulted in the decreased power of the Soviet government in the life of their citizens.

1. What laws did the book , The Jungle , prompt the government to pass
nikdorinn [45]

1. Upton Sinclair's The Jungle was originated from a cover story of the meat-workers strike of 1904, Chicago. The main purpose was to expose the exploitation of the workers by the Beef Trust, but it also showed the horrific meatpacking practices that produced the food. So the Meat Inspection Act of 1906 was passed, by which all of the animals must have been inspected before and after the slaughter by Government officials.

2. C. Limiting the number of immigrants entering the U.S. was not a concern of the progressive movement.
