Ancient Egyptian goddess Ma'at played an important role in the belief of life after death​ for Egyptians and there are historians and researchers that associated its role by describing how God Osiris had to rule the land of the dead, ideas that appear in ancient Egypt mythology.

Ma'at was the one that put the leaf in the balance to evaluate the actions of the death, before going to the afterlife. This was known as the Hall of Judgment. Here is where the heart of de deceased was put in the balance to be judged by the feather of truth that would decided if the Egyptian could access the prize of the afterlife with the gods.
