An oxymoron is when 2 words that are next to each other in a sentence have contradictory meanings. An example of this would be "You are pretty ugly." The actual meaning of the sentence is that the person is ugly, but using pretty and ugly next to each other makes it an oxymoron.

You have not included the answer choices, so I cannot give you the exact answer. If you post them in the comments, I will help you to the best of my ability.

Why was the white South so committed to keeping a slave based economy
garik1379 [7]

Building a commercial enterprise out of the wilderness required labor and lots of it. For much of the 1600s, the American colonies operated as agricultural economies, driven largely by indentured servitude. Most workers were poor, unemployed laborers from Europe who, like others, had traveled to North America for a new life. In exchange for their work, they received food and shelter, a rudimentary education and sometimes a trade.

By 1680, the British economy improved and more jobs became available in Britain. During this time, slavery had become a morally, legally and socially acceptable institution in the colonies. As the number of European laborers coming to the colonies dwindled, enslaving Africans became a commercial necessity and more widely acceptable.

Option 3: Thinking of one’s future feels like an alien invasion: … (Finish the connection.)
Contact [7]

Answer: Our future does not exist, just like alien invasions do not exist either.

Explanation: We build our own future, in the present with plans, which will become true if we work hard. Alien invasions can only exist in our mind, just like future only exists in our minds at the present. Do not let your mind be "invaded" by "aliens", invade your mind yourself with amazing plans.

how does the use of multimedia affect the portrayal of a literary work such as novel, play, or poem?
sergeinik [125]

Answer:

The use of multimedia affects the portray of a literary work by depicting differently.

Explanation:

The multimedia, including movies and theatres, have taken literary works to showcase the audiences. Media, especially film, have changed the relationship between reader and book as well as the literary reception of the text. The access to literature through media is becoming more common, that led to the pushing out of books. A film can reach all classes easily. Several books are used today for media adaptations with loosely fitting to novels as they become half-autonomous texts. Consequently, the film is necessarily shorter, thus its focus on the central parts of the story. Also, the number of characters can sometimes reduced because films concluded in not more than one and a half hours with a limited budget.
