Colonization caused a major cultural shift and merge. For example, the English left a footprint on the United States, which is why Americans speak English. The merge of Settlers and Natives also created a new mix of population and a more diverse community. Even Japan during WW2 had colonized Indochina (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos) which in the short period all the Vietnamese learned Jungle War tactics from the Japanese that were used in The Vietnam War.
