One of the principles under which this group worked was, to promote cultural and social welfare, reject socialism and anarchism and demand certain benefits for the workers in the United States. In essence, unlike other unions, the Knights of Labor allowed people to join in regardless of their race, their position, or skill; what did matter is the person´s  productivity in society. Other than that, almost anyone was allowed in.
