Answer:

June 6, 1944 - Allied Forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, France.  After a heroic effort and sacrifice by thousands of valiant men representing the “greatest generation,” The German held villages throughout Normandy were liberated. This marked the beginning of the defeat of Nazi tyranny throughout Europe.

D-Day Memorial Parade

Sainte-Mère-Église -

June 6- 5:00PM

Each year Sainte-Mère-Église, the first village to be liberated by American paratroopers, hosts this historic parade. Military units, marching bands, cultural and civic groups will march down the same streets that were lined with American troops in 1944. The town has since named their streets after Allied Generals including General Eisenhower. They have also preserved WWII era artifacts in the Airborne Museum in the center of town. The Mayor has expressed his best wishes and looks forward to greeting the parade participants as they visit his wonderful village. In addition to the parade, a concert series will be staged in the town square featuring outstanding performing groups.

This event has been recognized by numerous veterans associations, community organizations, military and government officials and will provide participants and spectators an opportunity to salute those men and women who have sacrificed for our nation.

The Ceremonies

Brittany American Cemetery

Normandy American Cemetery

Two official public ceremonies will take place at the American Cemeteries in the Normandy region, including the Brittany American Cemetery and the Normandy American Cemetery. Combined, these solemn and sacred cemeteries are the final resting place for nearly 15,000 brave Americans who paid the ultimate sacrifice as part of the D-Day and Normandy campaigns during the summer of 1944.

These important ceremonies not only provide a tribute to the fallen, but to all those participating in the ceremony it is a reminder of the price of freedom.  The sacrifice made by so many, and the motivation behind it, should be honored, cherished and never forgotten.

Our Mission

The D-Day Memorial Parade and Musical Salute to the Veterans will provide a meaningful tribute to our veterans and armed forces while featuring community organizations, talented performing groups, dignitaries, and military groups - all joining together to share the Spirit of America with the citizens and visitors of Normandy.

Answer:

Isolates

Isolates are completely detached. They don't care about their leaders, know anything about them or respond to them in any obvious way. Their alienation is, nevertheless, of consequence. By default – by knowing nothing and doing nothing – isolates strengthen leaders who already have the upper hand.

Bystanders

Bystanders observe but do not participate. They make a deliberate decision to stand aside, disengaging from their leaders and the group. This withdrawal is, in effect, a declaration of neutrality that amounts to tacit support for the status quo.

Participants

Participants are in some way engaged. They clearly favor or oppose their leaders and the groups and organizations of which they are a part. In either case, they care enough to invest some of what they have (time, for example) to have an impact.

Activists

Activists feel strongly about their leaders, and they act accordingly. They are eager, energetic and engaged. Because they are heavily invested in people and process, they work hard on behalf of their leaders or to undermine and even unseat them.

Diehards

Diehards are prepared to die for their cause, whether that is an individual, an idea or both. Diehards are deeply devoted to their leaders or, in contrast, ready to remove them from positions of power, authority and influence by any means necessary. Diehards are defined by their dedication, including their willingness to risk life and limb. Being a diehard is all-consuming. It is who you are. It determines what you do.
