This is because when someone uses the word 'however' it states that there is another fact or statement that is different from the first. If someone was talking badly about a subject, let us say football, they would say all the negative points about it. If someone interjects to this they are going to say the opposite (contradiction) of the first person's statement or opinion. They would say "<u><em>However</em></u><em> </em>there all these bad things about football there are good things about it too"
