Answer:

A) 5 and B) 5

Step-by-step explanation:

A) 5x-12=13

        +12    +12 (add 12 to the 13)

    5x=25

(then divide 25 by 5 which is 5 so the answer is 5)

B) 8(x+3)=64  (first use distributive property)

   8x+24=64

        -24   -24    (then subtract 24 to 64 which is 40)

    8x=40

(then divide 40 by 8 which is 5 so that is it!)

I believe this is correct, I hope this helps :D

Alice and Bob each have a certain amount of money. If Alice receives $n$ dollars from Bob, then she will have $4$ times as much
oksano4ka [1.4K]

Answer: 31 : 9

Step-by-step explanation:

Assume the following:

Alice's amount = P

Bob's amount = Q

Amount received = n

If Alice receives $n$ dollars from Bob ;then she will have $4$ times as much money as Bob.

P + n = 4(Q - n)

P + n = 4Q - 4n

P = 4Q - 4n - n

P = 4Q - 5n - - - - (1)

If, on the other hand, she gives $n$ dollars to Bob, then she will have $3$ times as much money as Bob

P - n = 3(Q + n)

P - n = 3Q + 3n

P = 3Q + 3n + n

P = 3Q + 4n - - - - - - (2)

Equating both equations - (1) and (2)

4Q - 5n = 3Q + 4n

4Q - 3Q = 4n + 5n

Q = 9n

Express P in terms of n, use either equation (1) or (2)

From equation 2:

P = 3Q + 4n

Substituting Q = 9n

P = 3(9n) + 4n

P = 27n + 4n

P = 31n

Alice's amount = P, Bob's = Q

Ratio = P:Q

31 : 9

Write the equation of the line parallel to 2x - 6y = 12 that passes through the point ( -1, 4).
vlada-n [284]

Answer:

y = 1/3x + 4 1/3

Step-by-step explanation:

2x - 6y = 12

First find the slope

Solve for y

Subtract 2x

2x - 6y -2x= 12-2x

-6y = -2x+12

Divide by -6

-6y/-6 =-2x/-6 +12/-6

y = 1/3 x -2

The slope is 1/3

Parallel lines have the same slope

Using the slope intercept form y = mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept

y = 1/3x +b

And substituting in the point

4 = 1/3 (-1) +b

4 = -1/3 +b

Add 1/3 to each side

4 + 1/3 = b

y = 1/3x + 4 1/3

una fracion reducicion a su minima expresion en igual a 1/8 . si la suma de sus terminos es 72. hallar la diferencia entre ellos
Mandarinka [93]

La diferencia entre el denominador y el númerador de la fracción es:

64 - 8 = 56.

<h3>¿Como encontrar la fracción?</h3>

Tendremos una fracción de la forma:

\frac{a}{b}

Tal que:

\frac{a}{b} = \frac{1}{8}

a + b = 72

Eso es un sistema de ecuaciones

Primero, podemos reescribir la primer ecuación como:

8a = b

Ahora podemos reemplazar "b" en la segunda ecuación por "8a", así obtenemos:

a + 8a = 72\\\\9a = 72\\\\a = 72/9 = 8

Ahora podemos obtener el valor de b:

b = 8a = 8*8 = 64

La diferencia entre a y b es:

b - a = 64 - 8 = 56

Show that any number of the form ABCABC (e.g. 356356) is divisible by 13.
Shtirlitz [24]

We could write such a number as

10^5a+10^4b+10^3c+10^2a+10b+c

=10^2(10^3+1)a+10(10^3+1)b+(10^3+1)c

=(10^3+1)(100a+10b+c)

10^3+1=1001=13\cdot77 so we're done.
