In this equation, y is equal to one twentieth times x. Using PEMDAS (parentheses, exponents, multiplication and division, addition and subtraction) from left to right, we would first divide 1 by 20 and then multiply it by x. An example of a real world problem is this:

Georgia is throwing a party for her friends. She has a large cake to split among all of the party guests. She has cut the cake into 20 slices for each of the friends who show up. She wants to know how much cake she will give in total to all of her friends.

 In this equation, y is equal to the total amount of cake that will be eaten by Georgia's friends at the party. Because the cake is sliced into 20 pieces, each friend will receive 1/20 of the cake. X is equal to the number of friends who show up to the party.
