"The United States is not imperialistic in the normal sense of control and domination.

It is in the US's best interest to keep free trade and democratic principles alive in other countries because it improves the safety and economic status of Americans

That being said...

The United States has been nicknamed the Sleeping Dragon.

During the Global War on Terror, which started in the 1970's, the United States did not really take an active approach towards defeating and pushing back terrorism until after September 11, 2001 when it was attacked in New York City.

Even though the US was attacked many times between the 1970s and 1990s, the country had had enough after 9-11.

This is the concept of waking a sleeping dragon. Once the country and military mobilized, its enemies were on the run. The US enter Iraq and Afghanistan, captured Saddam Hussein, killed Osama bin Laden, etc.

Because of our actions in the Mexican American War, Spanish American War, World War 1, World War 2, Cold War and the Global War on Terror, only a few are bold enough to attack the US and very few actually live long to brag about it".

I have a variety of information but I think that this is the best one .
My point of view:
Imperialism means to expand a country's power , it could be by political or military means . When President Theodore Roosevelt used the African proverb he basically said that people should be non violent/aggressive but they still should possess the ability to be violent .
