The answer is foreshadowing.
Foreshadowing is a literary technique used to suggest that a series of events may occur in the development of the story. 
In this excerpt from "Huckleberry Finn," Huck refers to the forgery of the King and Duke. He has realized that they are not really royals - they are indeed impostors. I'm sorry you were treated badly but becoming 'popular' won't do anything but turn you into the exact monsters that hurt you, or at the very least you'll be surrounded by 'popular students' that treat others like absolute dirt. If you want to act popular, start shopping at the most expensive clothing store you can find and start acting snobby, talking down to others, because that's what popularity in school is about about these days. You'll gain a lot of rude 'friends' and you probably won't be bullied, unless they decided to use you, but you'll watch others get the same thing you used to get instead. Good luck!
