Answer: These are just some simple adjustments I would do. Anything I add or want to say will be in bold or italics, tell me if I get some of them wrong.

I really really really hope this helps :))))

Explanation:

Dr. Peck states “problems call forth our courage and wisdom.” Our pain gets in the way of solving our problems. Dr. Peck is speaking the truth, without a doubt. We stall and and hope our problems will go away. Suppose I need to finish my math homework. I don't understand it, so instead I act as if it’s non-existent. Dr. Peck also states “...attempt to avoid problems.” (btw, that is how you quote part of a sentence, you did it right) Instead we must solve them and meet them head on.

Personally, I feel this work is not to avoid our problems, but to meet them head on with determination and courage. Many people should read this book because it helps with procrastinating.

After we discover and transcend that life is difficult, we can break free of our old habits. Our old habits wear us down like plaque on our teeth.

The work of this excerpt was, indeed, factual. It provided me with a toothbrush to brush the plaque off my teeth. A key to life was handed to me. The data facts and statistics add up fluently so that we can see it in plain sight. (try to sum it up without using too many fillers, like the "key to life was handed to me". It makes you seem like you're stalling.)

Read the following passage: “I gazed at these marvels in profound silence. Words were utterly wanting to indicate the sensations
Ne4ueva [31]

The correct word is “gazed”. The verb gaze is used to describe the action of looking / staring at something for a long period of time – be it because that something being watched is impressive or simply because the watcher is distracted and pensive. In the passage, the word gaze does NOT impact the mood.

What really impacts the mood in the passage are the other words – marvels, profound, wonder, mysterious, spectacle and phenomena – since their meaning convey an idea of something unnatural, exciting and incredible happening before the eyes of the narrator.

The passage was taken from the book A Journey to the Centre of the Earth by Julio Verne. The narrator is struggling to describe his sensations when he finds a gigantic cavern and the Central Sea below the surface of the Earth.

Ganezh [65]

The type of figurative language represented by the use of the word Selma in the provided stanza is allusion.

Allusion is a brief and indirect reference to a person, place, thing or idea of historical, cultural, literary or political significance, in this particular case the 1965 civil rights march from Selma, Alabama, in which nonviolent protestors were attacked by police. Allusions are just passing comments about which the writer expects the reader to possess enough knowledge to noticeits importance in a text.

The use of such figurative language affects the last line of this particular stanza by providung a description. Even though the descriptions referred to persons or things in allusions are not fully detailed, its use enables writers or poets to simplify complex ideas and emotions.
