Answer:

What is being emphasized in the phrase is the enormous power that Napoleon had at the time in Europe.

Explanation:

From 1807 to 1812, Napoleon managed to conquer large areas of Europe, including Germany, which was the Holy Roman Empire at the time, a political entity that he himself dissolved, Italy, parts of Spain, parts of the Low Countries, and some areas in Eastern Europe.

Napoleon then, tried to conquer Russia, but this proved to be fatal to him, because of the large landmass and the harsh winter. His campaign in Russia would be the beginning of his demise.

(HELP 31 points) 11. How did the rich people see Julius Caesar?
Alchen [17]

Answer: Well, as Caesar got older, his wealth increased exponentially. First when he was a soldier, he was very poor, although he was technically a patrician. Then, he climbed the rungs of the Senate ladder, from quaestor, to aedile, to praetor, and finally he became the consul of Rome. This is also when he became part of the First Triumvirate, along with Crassus and Pompey. Right now, he had gotten very rich, but was also deeply indebted. Then, he became a proconsul and went on to govern three prestigious provinces, Illyricum, Cisalpine Gaul and Transalpine Gaul. He became even more indebted as he raised a few legions at his own personal expense. But, when the Gallic Wars ended, Caesar was probably the richest Roman, due to the massive plunder and slaves he gained from this war. He got even more plunder, after turning Egypt into a client kingdom, defeating and plundering the Kingdom of Pontus, and defeating the Pompeians at Thapsus, Pharsalus and Munda. He gave each Roman soldier 100 talents of silver, and a plot of land in Roman territory, and also every Roman citizen 1 silver talent. This was like 10 years worth of wages. Still, he remained the richest Roman, and Octavian inherited this wealth, without which he would not have won against Mark Antony. Hopes this helps pls pls mark me as brainliest

How did the US Congress respond to the signing of the SALT II (Strategic Arms Limitation Talks) treaty?
prohojiy [21]

Answer:

SALT II was the second series of Strategic Arms Limitation Talks between the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The talks opened in Geneva in September 1972 to complete the agreement on strategic defensive weapons. The agreement for the limitation of the construction of nuclear weapons was reached in Vienna on June 18, 1979, but with the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan, on the eve of Christmas 1979, there were harsh reactions on a global scale, especially on the American side.

On 3 January 1980, Carter proposed to the Senate to postpone indefinitely the ratification of the SALT II treaty. Then he took a series of restrictive measures, including the suspension of the planned sales of grain, culminating then in the announcement that the American athletes would not take part in the XXII Olympics, to be held in Moscow on the summer of 1980. With the increasing tensions at the beginning of the eighties, the great powers accused each other of betraying the agreements made, but this did not prevent the negotiations for the reduction of strategic weapons, albeit with continuous interruptions, to resume until reaching the START agreements (START I and START II).
